Ok, so we've not won anything yet, but we've got a nomination at the Scottish Ad Awards. Although it says 'Creative Team of the Year', it's technically the best newcomers to the industry, as there are a few hurdles to jump through.
But nevertheless, we're in it to win it. Though I won't be surprised if Paul and Euan walk away with the silver sword. I'm not letting myself get my hopes up. Yet...
In other areas, Leith got a hat full for IRN-BRU across all sorts of media. The Scottish Government got a couple. Plus, Steve and Alfie got their knifcrime viral in. Awesome. Bring on the 8th October!
Facebook Places vs Foursquare
Right, I know there's a million of these, but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring too.
I think Facebook Places and Foursquare offer (at present) two different markets. And so they can live in harmony.
Facebook Places (in my head) is about staying in touch with your 'friends' without having; "hey look at me enjoying myself at [somewhere interesting]" in your news feed. Instead, this app does that for you. I hope.
The fact it's only available on mobile devices (as yet) indicates that Facebook want people to meet up on the move. And not have people sat at home. In fact they maybe trying to be more social with their app. At last!
Find me here. Stalk me there. And even, wow I hadn't realised you were at the same gig/sports event/area of town as me... Are just some of the all things that Facebook Places can bring to the table.
So, is this the death of Foursquare?
I'm not sure. We all love badges right? And checking-in with randoms from other places? Exactly. I'm guessing Facebook technically won't show up anyone else who's checked-in to the same place as you, unless they're on your friends list.
That means there's a whole new market (where there wasn't really one before) for Foursquare. Facebook in fact, shouldn't let you see these check-ins. Because the point of Facebook is you should know who you're talking to. Foursquare is the opposite. Get where I'm going here?
Granted, Facebook Places will probably be a huge success. But with the extensions that Foursquare has brought to the table. Like 'Special Offers' for people who check-in on certain days, or whoever is Mayor gets a discount, Foursquare has a chance. And a good one at that.
Plus, you never know, Facebook Places might encourage more check-ins and ultimately encourage users to seek a different kind of location app.
But in the mean time, my Facebook Places doesn't work and I'm off to enjoy my Mayoral status. Let me know what you think.

Interactive Spotify Ads
This is new. If you click on the image of the 'Tuborg Beat The Intro' advert of Spotify, instead of redirecting you off Spotify and taking you to a webpage, it opens up the ad in an overlay window.
Have Spotify tried to make advertising better for the advertisers? This ad makes complete sense by sitting the same viewing window. I wonder what other actions are possible. Coincidentally the video overlay stops all your music playing along with the current ad.
A nice modification to a medium that has been, largely untapped.

Senator's Old Spice(ish) ad
I nearly died when I saw this:
How could you ever vote for this guy? Even if he's on a cow.
But all is not lost. I read this comment and realised if you can write well, well, that's half the battle of attempting to rip off the best ad this year.

Look at your comment, now back to mine. Now back at your comment now back to mine. Sadly it isn't mine, but if you stopped trolling and started posting legitimate comments it could look like mine. Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through comments, writing the comment your comment could look like. What did you post? Back at mine, it's a reply saying something you want to hear. Look again the reply is now diamonds. Anything is possible with legit comments. I'm on a chair. Can we all stop trying to copy the Old Spice ad. It's genius, and everything else isn't. I'm on a Mac... blogging.
The best use of Facebook mobile ever?
Mobile uploads of pictures on to Facebook are few and far between. But this is definitely the best use I've ever seen.

Picture 2 (12 minutes later):
Tasty stuff.
YouTube End Frame
I live on Mashable, and yet I seemed to have seen this new feature before they did. I've always been a fan of the hotspots on YouTube as they open up a great way to keep people flicking through certain videos. But YouTube have taken it to a whole new level with their own end frame of hotspots.
Plus, if you click the share button, the panel below slides open. All very snazzy.
Now just let me link to an external site and you'll be better than pretty much every website there is!
I'm Dating Myself
It's as random as ManBabies and just as weird. But in a good way. Some pics are quite badly Photoshopped but I think that's half the fun. You can even drop the blog's owner a reader's submission. Like this guy, Adam, who's dating himself, and marrying himself in less than a month! Nice effort. Want some linkage? Click the mahooosive (logo) pic. Enjoy.
Post Me To The Fringe
The Edinburgh Festival brings out the best acts from all across the World. Getting your name in lights isn't easy. The Fringe magazine is full from top to toe of acts all wanting your attention. But what if you can't afford to put yourself in there. Or, even get to the Fringe to perform your own act. Well, Will Armstrong, a student from Brighton has found a novel way of getting there. In a box...
It's not just funny, but also cheaper (than his mate, who's getting the bus). And, what's better is that he's tweeting from inside his box en-route to final destination, the top of the Royal Mile Fringe Restriction, at 6pm today (4/8/10).
And he's got at least one person going to see his show off the back of posting himself (aka me). Nice find Awoooooga.
Find out more on his website, or watch his tweets in a box on Twitter. Or... look at some pictures.
Go on the box guy. Love it.
He's already made his local news:
