Media Buying Win

Our ScotRail banner appeared on the Sun this morning. Being a Scottish train company it happened to be in quite a good spot next to the "I hate England" article.

Media Buying Fail

Normally I'd laugh at this kind of stupidity. Unfortunately, the ad that's being obscured happens to be ours. Grr.

Amazon Wishlists

Isn't it annoying when you have an idea, but can't do anything about it?

We pitched an idea to 4iP a couple of months ago that they loved, but felt wasn't quite right for them.

Here was our pitch:

Working title:
The Wish Wardrobe + Widget

Elevator pitch:
A web browser widget that enables you to assemble a wardrobe over a series of shopping sites. From here, you can then create outfits inside their personal wardrobe portal.

Approach:
The widget would be a browser add-on to Firefox or Google Chrome. While, the wardrobe could be accessible via Facebook to create an easy to use and share experience for everyone.

And yesterday, here's me finding the near same idea, but done for Amazon. Damn.
It has a few flaws (I can add Facebook to my list), but on the whole, it's really nice. Add anything you want to your Wishlist here.

Bring on the Vuvuzela: TV ad

So, last week I posted about the little video I made with a helping hand from @hollymix. Well, this week I got a rather cool email from someone at Fallon saying they'd seen it and they'd made a real version of it. Oh, and did I mind!

It all started when Ash, who happens to have The Natural Confectionery Company as a client, forwarded the video on to his boss last Friday lunch (18/6). And then by Wednesday this week an account handler at Fallon had sent me an email saying:
"We've made this tactical TNCC ad. I just wanted to share our version with you (below) and also just to ensure that you didn't feel we had completely ignored your idea."
She went on to say;
"we've bought a spot in ITVs commentary on Friday, and we are also going to upload it to the youtube account."
And;
"should this ever go to awards, we'll include your names on the list."
WOW. It only took five days for the video, with just over 100 views, to get made into a TV advert. That's mental. And, it was mine?!

Enjoy.

What Google Finds

Ok, so I had an idea, and it went like this:

Have you ever looked for a bit of inspiration using Google Images and discovered more than you bargained for?

If the answer is yes, then What Google Finds is the place to visit. Here you'll find a homage to all the random images that you weren't looking for, but still found.

I've got a few rules that I'm trying to live by. These are:

  • Images must be unrelated to search.
  • They should be funny, weird or at least vaguely interesting and found within the first five pages of search.
  • The themes vary week on week.
  • All other rules will be made up as I go along.
If you fancy suggesting a theme, all you have to do is Tweet @whatgooglefinds.

Oh and I'm seeing how far WGF?! can get. After all, every image is meant to be pretty random.

Plug over. Enjoy.

Automated Email Fail

I officially had 27:29 minutes and counting to order my Two for Tuesday.

It's lucky I did it at 7pm then...

BBC Commentary

Has gone up a league online. Simply flick on the Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave commentary and boring games will go up a league.

Quotes so far:

CM: "Ooo he's lifted up his flag, I hope he's got deodorant on."

CD: "Any thoughts on what we're having for lunch?"

Head tennis got a CM: "Boing. Boing. Boing."

CM: "Close but no cigar" (followed by the dying Pac Man sound).

When a Keeper takes a goal kick you get "ooooooooooooOOOOOOH nice kick ahhh".

CM: Hello, can I order a delivery please? Can I have the largest meat feast you do please. Do you want any garlic bread?

And, if you missed out, they're doing Germany vs Serbia on Friday.

Trololololo

First there was the singing man:

Then there was the cat:

And now there's a Turkish TV ad that's stolen it:

I really hope it had a point.

Bring on the Vuvuzela

Okay, so @hollymix gave me the (great/annoying) idea. But I had to make it. With a little bit of iMovie, GarageBand and a few minutes hard work, there it was in all its glory. Enjoy.

USA Wins... or not.

How many things are wrong with this?
1. It's called a draw.
2. You technically didn't win.
3. They pulled a stat of drawing from 17th June 1775. Has seriously nothing happened since then?
4. We're English. Not British. The Scots moan enough that they're not there, don't include them now.
5. Was it really a shock? They're ranked 14th in the world, we're 8th. And, on my sweepstake I had the USA beating England 2-1. So I'm 1 point up.

Gym Kit

We all know that Nike are always looking for that next new thing. And, I think I've found it.

I reckon this guy in my gym is testing a secret product. It's basically something along the lines of a Dri-Fit Suit. (With belt, long sleeve button shirt and smart trousers). Well it must be, because surely he's not just wearing a standard suit while using the bike and treadmill.

I'm not convinced it'll catch on though...

Google World Cup

Just Google 'world cup' and see what they've done to their page at the bottom. (Click to make the pictures bigger.) Minus the screamer it's a lovely little design. It's a shame page two goes back to the original Google logo.

Top marks though.
